Indian Association (Manukau) New Zealand is affiliated to New Zealand Central Indian Association. Indian Association (Manukau) New Zealand still continues to celebrate all traditional festivals such as Holi, Navratri, and Independence Day. Most of the people will remember coming to HOLI? which is lit on full scale just like in our country.

 

 

The aims and objectives of Indian Association (Manukau) New Zealand, Mission Statements as they are known now are:

 

  • Institution providing Cultural, Educational and ethnic values

  • Secular organisation all faiths and religions treated equally

  • Your source of inspiration and empowerment

  • Creating spirit of solidarity and cooperation within Indian community and harmony with the society


Indian Association (Manukau) New Zealand has recently amended its constitution so that wider community groups such as Punjabi, Bengali, Marathi, Kannada association etc can be represented on its executive committee, without the groups losing their identities. The focus is on institutions to assimilate their resources with us to for better cooperation and having a unified voice on all issues relating to Indians in Manukau.

With added strengths of these affiliated groups, Indian Association (Manukau) New Zealand has been staging grand Diwali celebrations at venues such as Telstra-Pacific Centre and the big community hall – Malaeola community hall. They had unusual display of burning the effigy of RAVANA and celebrating Dashera in conjunction with Diwali festival.

The executive committee reflects members from most states of INDIA, such as Punjab, Delhi, MP, UP, South India and of course form Gujarat. It is a true reflection of INDIA and the values we have as Indians.

 

Indian Association (Manukau) New Zealand –IAMNZ in brief, will welcome Indians from any origin, whether from any part of India – Gujarat, Maharashtra, Kashmir, Punjab, Bengal, Kerala, Karnataka  or any state, any country – Fiji, England, South Africa, USA, Africa,-say any country of the world. We are all Indians and our doors are open to all. There are no qualifications and conditions based on caste, creed, state or origin or financial commitment.
